What’s a Malibu Chili Cook Off without chili?! Make sure to come by to try some amazing chili from our awesome chili chefs, available all weekend long for purchase. Looking for meat or vegan? We’ve got BOTH!

When and where can I buy chili?

Chili is available on-site all weekend long!!! Be sure to check our Event hours.

What types of chili are available for purchase?

Meat as well as Vegan chili is available.

How much does it cost to buy chili?

Chili pricing varies based upon vendor. Pricing generally ranges from $2 for a tasting to $14 for a bowl. All pricing is subject to change.

How can I enter the chili contest?

Believe it or not, it takes hard work and a passion for cooking LOTS of chili in order to participate in the chili contest. Please email [email protected] for more details.

When are the chili winners announced?

Chili winners are announced on site Sunday, Sept 1st at approximately 6PM in the Town & Country 21+ Lounge. (Subject to change)

How can I vote for my favorite chili?

People’s Choice voting is all day Friday, Saturday, and until 3pm on Sunday, Sep 1st.

Our Cook-Off Contestants come with a wide range of experience and passion for all things CHILI!

THE CHILI PREPPERS
Dan Morales, award winning chili and operator of The Chili Preppers, returns to participate in the MCCO 2024. Hoping to continue his reign, Dan is eager to return and raise funds for the BGCM.

DUKE’S MALIBU
Duke’s Malibu has been an institution since 1996, named after world-famous waterman, Duke Kahanamoku. Duke’s Malibu honors Duke, but also pays tribute to the early days of surfing in Malibu.

IRV’S BURGER MALIBU
Irv’s Burgers first opened in West Hollywood, along Route 66, in 1946 with the name Queen’s Burgers. The burger stand captured the attention of passersby with a sign that said, “No Lobster, Just Burgers.” Irv’s is a Route 66 icon and one of the first roadside burger stands in the city of Los Angeles.

Chef Darrell is going to make your taste buds dance to the Afro Latin flavor notes. Malibu’s Favorite Chili Festival Contestant Mestico has placed in this event 6 times. Love ❤️ Muff Chili is a 2 time Festival Champion and The Peoples Choice Every Labor Day Weekend! Love ❤️ Muff Chili Is also Kid Approved and Adults Like To Yum Yum 😋

MY LAI KITCHEN
Vietnamese flavors, healthy ingredients and welcoming atmosphere. That is husband and wife team, Shad Davis and Traci Phan Davis’s baby “Mỹ Lai”. Shad Davis is a seasoned chef by trade and a highly experienced restaurant consultant and Traci Davis is a long-time lover of food and restaurants.

STONER HOUSE FARMS
Alex Rylance is going on his 16th year in the Malibu chili cookoff . Originally started doing it as a fundraiser for Malibu rugby club which he founded in 2006. For the last few years, he has built a self sustainable farm (Stoner House Farms) where most of the vegetables grown are used in his chili recipe. His recipe has evolved over the last 16 years using prime brisket and smoking it for several hours to create a unique flavor. He also offers a shredded chicken chili and a vegetarian option. Alex has won and placed several times over the years and hopes to get back on top of that podium again this year.
